New Essay: Writing Poetry in the Dark
I will have an essay in Writing Poetry in the Dark, a craft book for speculative poets. The book will be edited by American poet, novelist and essayist Stephanie Wytovich and published by Raw Dog Screaming Press in 2022.
My essay titled “This is Not a Poem” explores using speculative poetry as social commentary. From Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes, the poets of the Nyorican Poets Cafe, to Amanda and Gorman and more are discussed.
